Superman has been killed many times, even The Metal Men killed Superman.

Superman died a long time ago, what after the second or was it the 3rd movie? Time travel? Like he didn't need more powers..

Superman has been killed jillions of times in Action Comics, but he always comes back, don't make me reinstall my scanner! I'd hate to have to show you some of his lame "deaths" prior to the mid-80s.

Superman == unkillable, whish is just the way I likes it! Who else would be good at leading the JLA? Aquadork? The Martian Manwiener? Plastic Man!?

Was it like he died then came back in the same comic all those times?
Doomsday might be different because of the length of the series?
left you on a cliffhanger...so to say.

When Doomsday killed Superman it created 4 "half-supermans".  They had a superman funeral and the whole works.  Marketting ploy.

Concider the death of Professor X?  Was also media coverage and created a massive rift.  I enjoyed it, but others wanted the X-men

..i dunno.  I like it when they mix things up.  The death of superman graphic novel (compendium of all the linked comics) is one of the best stories i have read.  Very well done.  I also have the 4 part series that leads to the death of ProfessorX which was also fantastic.

I think I'll have to take a trot down to my local comic shop and dig through their mags there.... how many comics make up the death of superman?
that justice league cartoon got me back into this... great cartoon

The Death of Superman was supposed to kill his character off for good, however there was a lot (and I mean a lot) of fanmail and internal pressure from DC execs and the descendants of Superman's creators so they eventually brought him back.

I agree that the current iteration of the JLA on TV is very agreeable and done with a lot of heart (like with the previous Bruice Timm implementation of Batman). Even the traditional lamewads (Aquaman) are treated with the respect they deserve.

and if they'd bring back the original X-Men cartoons, or make one thats more serious like the old one, that would be great.

For what it is, Evolution isn't bad. I just don't like the new character treatment for some of my favourites (Rogue, Iceman, Pyro, etc...).

Hence the words to http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/crashtestdummies/supermanssong.html' target='_blank'>this classic 90s song... Not so sure if http://www.mp3lyrics.org/song/EMINEM/SUPERMAN/' target='_blank'>this was also similarly inspired?

Hmm, perhaps his death-yet-there-the-next-episode is what inspired certain modern pop culture http://www.pdv-systeme.de/users/martinv/pgg/13R/13R004.html' target='_blank'>characters* , including http://www.homestarrunner.com/tgsmenu.html' target='_blank'>an artistic work I just discovered yesterday - humourously "drawn" and voiced by http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail.html' target='_blank'>another fictional character.  (Especially love http://www.homestarrunner.com/tgs8.html' target='_blank'>Issue 8) B)

*surprisingly, That Most Famous Of Southpark Quotes (re. Kenny) is absent from http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0121955/quotes' target='_blank'>the IMDB page. Alert the media. :P

 Hmm, Superman dead... again...

This is a comic that I have from '87 where Supes nearly bites it.

I wonder if Silver Banshee knows about the Skulls in Paragon City?

Thats what I was thinking. They've made them all younger to appeal to the younger generation. Another cartoon for the diehard generation would be fantastic.

The Death* and Return of Superman -- dramatised and HEAVILY MOCKED (but now I "get it" how/who Doomsday is, in simple terms :) )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PlwDbSYicM <-- 16 minutes of bang-on parody, with a bit of NSFW language

* as depicted in 1992's Action Comics Volume 2 #75 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_of_Superman)

IN A WORLD that is SEVEN YEARS LATER

Darren GETS IT

- I don't read comics
- I don't read comic fan material
- the video I linked to is a recent production ("Uploaded by darosthemovie on Feb 3, 2012") MOCKING something that happened, as you pointed out, quite some time ago (still is funny though!)
- I rarely start a new thread when I think it is on-topic with something already in the forum -- even if the existing thread is SEVEN YEARS old. ;)
- EDIT: just realized you said "gets it" cuz I said "I finally get it" (but I was referring specifically to Doomsday origins, as I said explained in simplified terms in the vid.
- wtf am I still doing up this late?
- relative to our chat earlier this month I guess this actually not even really very late
- bullet lists r00l.
