Well seems there is another way for Microsoft to make sure piracy doesn't get their updates.  Check out this new tool when you do your updates:

Update Windows without the Windows Updater then ;)

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/' target='_blank'>http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/

To be honest if Microsoft keeps pushing, I'll stop using. Sure I'll dual-boot Windows for games and @%&# but OSS is actually starting to look really good now. I mean, I don't use IE, I've switched to Thunderbird, I code in Java at work. The only other "Windows" apps I use are Corel, WordPad (I don't think I'll install Office again) and eMule.

hrm what happened to the button that used to say download without validating?

ah I see by Usts link that they changed that, bummer, but meh, I've still got my XP Home version to fall back on. The whole reason most people pirate Windows is because they want to run the opp on more than one computer in their home, if Microsoft would allow XP to run on multiple computers I think they'd get a lot more paying customers (other than corp custs that is). I mean having to foot out $300 for xp for each machine is kinda pricy in my opinion anyway. Especially if you have more than two computers in your HH.

Could be worse, you could own an Apple.  Since the launch of OSX (about the same time as WinXP) they have done 4 more version at a price of $149 each ($750is for those counting at home).

I dont see the Operating System being all that expensive.  XP will have a lifespan of about 5 years by the time Vista ships, and at a cost of $250 per computer it seems like a decent deal.  Concidering you basically use it for every second your on the machine.

Gas would be such a good deal if i only had to pay for it to be used in one of my cars and the other could just use its gas...and it always fills up for free too.

Sweet link, d00d. Wicked fresh!

Seriously, good all-in-one place to find Le Patches (combined with http://browsers.evolt.org/' target='_blank'>http://browsers.evolt.org/ I'd say no need to visit windowsupdate.com again ;)) and hey there's even a PDF converter - free! http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/index.html' target='_blank'>http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/index.html
