SUBJECT: THE 2005 ALBERTA OPEN DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT

AUGUST 27th AND 28th IN THE CITY OF WETASKIWIN.

LOCATION: PEACE HILLS PARK DISC GOLF COURSE

TIME: 1030 AM TO 4:00 PM SATURDAY AUGUST 27th
0900 AM TO 3:00 PM SUNDAY AUGUST 28th

On August 12th and 13th 2005 the new Peace Hills Park disc golf course held it’s debut tournament as part of the 2005 Alberta Senior’s Games (Seniors in Motion) This new and very beautiful facility received rave reviews from players and spectators then and now, two weeks later, the same very challenging course will test some of the best disc golfers in Western North America as part of a tournament sanctioned by
the Professional Disc Golf Association.

The 5th event on the 2005 Alberta Disc Golf Tour, the 2005 Alberta ‘Open’ Disc Golf Tournament, will occur Saturday August 27th, and Sunday August 28th at the Peace Hills Disc Golf Course in Wetaskwin. The course is located 1 mile north and ½ mile west of Wetaskiwin’s most familiar landmark, the Water Tower.

Members of the public are invited to Peace Hills Park this weekend to watch top players make spectacular long drives and chain rattling putts during the course of play. This will be an especially good opportunity for members of local/regional recreation service providers and educators to come to Peace Hills and learn more about the exciting and fast growing sport of Disc Golf.

72 holes in the hot sun, with the adverage hole length 150m

Well earned. One of the hardest tournaments i ever played in.

expecially the 36 hole non stop marathon on sunday. Started 9:15am and finished at 5:30pm with nothing but a 10 min break between rounds.
I only drink the blood of my enemies, and on occasion a strawberry smoothie.

It wasnt exactly easy.  To give you an example...

Hole #3.  Par 3. 125m.

Perfectly straight down a corridor of trees less then 5 feet wide.  Took me an average of 4.5 shots to get there

Hole #5.  Par 5.  350m.

Massive dog leg with a 90 degree manditory about 200m away from the tee-box.  The entire weekend i heard that only a couple could even make the manditory on their first shot.

...great course, id love to take a day trip there again and go for a round before the season ends.
