I wonder how many of those 400+ items are included in that "mix and match" webpage one of you referred to years ago... You know, the one where it had like 3 dropdowns, you could "make up" a whole new piece of Trek Tech

PS: J J Abrams is apparently denying those rumours I'm sure you've all heard...

Abrams: Report "Not Entirely Accurate"

In his first comments to the press regarding his deal to produce an 11th Star Trek film (related story), J.J. Abrams says the news that was broken last week by Daily Variety was premature and somewhat erroneous.

"The whole thing was reported entirely without our cooperation," Abrams is quoted by Empire Online yesterday. "People learned that I was producing a Star Trek film, that I had an option to direct it, they hear rumors of what the thing was going to be and ran with a story that is not entirely accurate."

In addition to clarifying that he may or may not direct the film, Abrams also distanced himself from Variety's report that the plot of "Star Trek XI" would revolve around a young James T. Kirk and Spock at Starfleet Academy.

"We've made a pact not to discuss any specifics," he said.

At the same time, though, he confessed to being a fan of the Original Series and remarked, "Those characters are so spectacular. I just think that... you know, they could live again."

I'll second that. I think he's a bit old for the part two, considering the rumour that this is a retread of Harve Bennet's Starfleet Academy idea.

-Old West Gunfights

-Star Whores

-Ethnic stereotypes

-Roger Corman-style "special" effects.

Oh yeh, it's filmed in 3-B (three beers and it looks good).

The "Academy" idea is a great idea... if the producers want no hardcore fans dropping by the box office.

I think Abrams is trying to reassure fans that there will be something familiar for them to enjoy -- but that it won't be lameness along the lines of "Star Trekerer: When Jim Met Spock" :roll:
