It was a great weekend all in all. It's too bad about Wayne, I wish i could have played it one last time. I was worried about our buddy Fred at the last chance saloon losing all this income. But one of his employees was playing in the intermediate division with us and he said Fred was a little happy because the Aug. long weekend is his busiest weekend (I guess it was packed Friday/Sat. night) and he can't accommodate the disc players on top of the regular crowed that weekend... the following weekend would be better.
I don’t know why they moved it to the Aug. long weekend, its hard for ppl to get the time off (like our buddy Silver Surfer), and its the universal wedding weekend. But i guess maybe it works out better for the out of province ppl. A lot from B.C. was there, and even a little bit of Saskatchewan. 75 in total, best attendance yet.
The rain sucked a little on Friday, our buddy Drunkener got caught in the middle of a torrential downpour while putting up his tent. It also delayed the tournament start till 12:30pm due to the muddy slippery conditions on the hill. But by 5:00 it was pretty much all dried up.
The course is defiantly on par if not harder then the Wayne course. Some of the holes have a similar design to counter part holes in Wayne, except the Star land holes are a tad more extreme (higher elevation, longer clif to clif drives, sharper peaks).
I'd like to make an honorable mention to my main completion, "Luke", a 13 year old boy, who i barely beat in a playoff for 1st place. This kid has a rock solid game, nothing but 3's across the card, where my game was 4, 2, 4, 2, 3, 3, 5 etc. He grew up next to the parkland course in Calgary and is a fast rising star. Im sure the next time we meet, he'll kick my @$$.
Looks like with my victory i now advance to... well Advanced Am which is one behind pro. Im sure i'll lose tournaments for years to come now, but having never placed before, At least i know i earned the right to be there.
