It's rather "Flintstones"-esque in style...
"They told Matt Groening to draw character sketches. So he did but he only made rough drawings and the Simpsons characters them selves were a last minute change from another set of characters he had ready. He figured that the animators would clean up his sketches but they didn't they just traced them."

So the rawness of the Simpsons was an accident :P

PS: worry not, there isn't really a kid as disturbed as this who acted this way in front of a cam. Apparently the kid is faking (or he might even be an actual actor)
