Wave 6
« on: December 04, 2006, 06:40:29 PM »
Here are the army Cards for 3 of the 4 new booster packs in wave 6:

Huh? 120pts? I think this unit should swap prices with the below Kyrie unit "Empress Kiova", that 1 in 20 roll is tough, if mass curse has ever taught us anything, and entire army can go un hurt, theres always that chance, but not a strategy id bet on outside a last ditch effort... Not worth the turn IMO

Rather powerfull for 90pts, im sure this will become a must have unit, not bad stats either

And on that note Ne-Gok-Sa is rendered useless... not like we ever picked him though  ???

Wow, now let me ask you this, why would you pick the above unit "Runa", when you could pick these guys for 20pts cheaper, and get THREE chances at a 1 in 10 chance (not 1 in 20) to take CONTROL of the unit, not just destroy it, but turn it against. Now thats a chance id rather take... oh and Ne-Gok-sa once again became more useless.

Finnaly a ranged Samuri unit... Attack of 2 aint all that great, and range is only 6 but they are priced accordingly... not sure if they are worth the turn marker when you compare them to other ranged units.

Slightly less useful more costly Syvaris.

Wow, 6 attacks in one turn, they fly, stats are respectable, and priced just right IMO

Add +1 movement for 30pts by suiciding him into the side of anything... why not  ::)

An Orc army is almost viable again, lots of binding with these units.

And of course ZOMBIES! Looks like no one has been anbe to get a shoot of an official card, but they were able to dig up some stats. These units look cool and i plan of picking up at least 3 sets of these guys. Cheap draft to, 60pts!

Zombies of Morindan

HORDE MOVEMENT

You may move up to 6 Zombies of Morindan that you control each turn. However, you may attack with only 3 Zombies of Morindan. You may attack with any 3 Zombies of Morindan, even Zombies of Morindan that you did not move this turn.

ZOMBIE ONSLAUGHT SPECIAL ATTACK

Range 1. Attack 6.
Three Zombies of Morindan on the same level may combine their attacks and roll their attack dice as one attack. All Zombies of Morindan in the attack must be engaged to the targeted figure.

ZOMBIES RISE AGAIN

If a Zombie of Morindan that you control destroys an opponent’s small or medium figure, replace that figure immediately, if possible, with one of your own previously destroyed Zombies of Morindan. Newly placed Zombies of Morindan cannot attack this turn. Undead are not affected by Zombies Rise Again.

Stats
L: 1
M: 4
R: 1
A: 2
D: 3
60 Points

Cool stuff. Just remember to read the cards closely as they apply to specific units in many cases.

Looks like wave 6 is available for pre-order now, i'll probably order my usuall two sets of everything and maybe pick up a third set of zombies, and those new kyrie warriors.

Im looking forward to the next game (early in the new year I take it?), but i think we gotta layoff the castle some and do a couple more landscape maps and use the castle pieces as more battlements then a fortress to invade (keep gameplay fresh?) and try the units on a more classic playing field.

Exactly, we need room for the big guys to move.

While I agree with this, I have found it very refreshing to breakout the squads again and have them actually useful.  Nothing is as disheartening as having your 75 point squad destroyed in a single round by a Black Dragon.

The siege was fun; I think we defiantly explored that avenue as far as we could take it. Last game *was* suppose to be something totally different from a siege game, but plans had to change due to some last minute player dropouts.

I still want to try that capture the flag style game that we had speced out.

Some great new house rules came out of those games though like:

- Only +1 bonus from the extreme height, although we could let the scenario decide the usage of this one.

- The concept of tipping the flags per castle level to enable flight to that level. A great balance between not having flying creatures ruin the scenario by blowing past the natural barriers, but still taking advantage of their flying ability by rewarding flight due to the millstone of manually reaching that height point by more conventional means.

I agree that we haven’t really even been able to explore the wave 5 units yet in a classic landscape skirmish style battle. I have high hopes for these new agents and ninjas, not to mention getting these flag bearers into the mix.

I would counter with Nothing is as disheartening as having your 210 point Black Dragon destroyed in a single round by a squad. Damn Mel and the dirks!

Here are some action pics of the Wave 6 units:

Apparently this unit was the result of a design contest held by hasbro. A little girl came up with the concept.

Shortest unit yet

One thing people are really starting to notice is the increasingly rich detail going into the painting of theses figures. The below unit has up to 10 different colors on it. Is this a sign that Hasbro is starting to cater more towards the mature crowed? Apparently the Zombie units are a result of a strong demand from the online community, where these units have been played as "customs" for quite some time now.

6 Zombies in a pac, must be two squads, or the first squad of 6?

These Orc units look amassing with each unit uniquely modeled right down to their faces.

Hard to say, probably impossible to shedule anything over the Christmas holidays. And the first weekend of January is my birthday along with my wife's birthday and i think my parents are comming into town.

That being said, Jan 12th at the earliest. Unless we can sneak a small game in this week. Im off Thursday and Friday (friday night is out of the question), Out of town Saturday (23rd) to the following Wednesday (27th) or possibly up to the Friday (29th). What ever game we have im sure would be 3 - 4 players.
