So this may be like the Router debate. I.E. is it pronounced router or (the incorrect) rooter.

I was watching CBS last night and a dell commercial came on. I was not paying any attention, it was a commercial after all, but all of the sudden they announced a deal on a Asus product. The problem was that they pronounced it "A - Seuss" instead of the "A - s - Us" I've always heard it as. Now i presume it is like the Celica pronunciation (and router for that matter) that it may be simply different in the US, but has anyone else ever heard it that way?

Asus is short for Pegasus... So it is more like Ace-us not Eh-Zuse

I believe it's supposed to be /ɑːˈsuːs/ (a-soose), the confusion for Westerners is the that they capitalize their name which makes it seem like an acronym to which vowel rules do not apply, so most of us pronounce it as /ˈeɪsəs/ (a-suss)

Debating in detail what the correct pronunciation of a tech company's name is.  My faith in our nerdity has been restored.

Say "Pegasus".  Now say it without the "Peg".  Do you really want to work for a company called "Ass Uhs"?

Ultimately, it's pronounced however the company that has picked the name says it's pronounced.  The only way to know is to ask them.  If they haven't specified, then we can pronounce it any way we want.
